Tod Klehr (also known as T.O.D.), is the leader of the Music Ministry for the Celebrate Recovery service at Cornerstone Community Church and has been leading worship since it’s inception in December of 2001. The whole “T.O.D.” thing is a mystery…no one seems to know who started spelling his name, but, it definitely stuck. Someone once said to him, “You know what T.O.D. stands for, don’t you? Time of Death! You know, like in the T.V. shows where the cop looks at the corpse and asks the coroner, “What was his T.O.D.?”
Well, that was kinda spooky, but Tod thought about it and, naturally, he came up with a spiritual interpretation and wrote yet another song. The song was originally titled; “Time of Death” but eventually evolved into “Die to Live” and is based on the scripture:
So you should consider yourselves dead to sin and
alive to God in Christ Jesus. Romans 6:11
The song asks some thought-provoking questions…”When are you going to live? (In Christ) When are you going to die? (To sin)…and will hopefully lead you to that quiet place where you think deeply and thoughtfully about your answers. The song became so meaningful to Tod that he decided to make it the title song of his first CD. Don’t worry, though, it’s not a doom and gloom tune, it’s actually one of his many songs that rock.
As for the rest of the songs, some of them were written many years ago, while others were written as recently as last month. Talk about taking it down to the wire. Anyway, they were all written to inspire and encourage believers in their walk with the Lord and also to offer hope to those who are not quite sure about this whole “God thing.”
The CD itself has been quite a labor of love, but even with all the hard work, it has been incredibly fulfilling to see these songs develop into what they are now. Our hope and prayer is that they will be “pleasing unto the Lord” and that His Name will be glorified through the music. We hope you will enjoy the CD and that you will find one or two songs in there that you won’t be able to get out of your head. You know, those songs that you keep humming all day long and you’re hardly even aware of it. And with that, we hope the message of God’s divine love and grace will stay in your head, too, and will stay in your heart as well.
